letter to Lou Ives

 Sure enjoyed talking to you the other day. I’m sending you both Bob’s [McIntire] original submission to “Navy Times” and the article as it appeared. I feel Bob must have put a lot of thought and research in writing this article.

 I agree with him and feel we must keep our guard up. There are an awful lot of loud ‘n’ boomers in being USSR and subsidiaries plus some being assembled in Iraq, Korea. We can’t afford to weaken ourselves too much and then have a need for a quick buildup in arms.

 Lou, I’m going to make this a short note so I can get it into the afternoon mail. You should feel privileged to get a letter from me since I write one about every two years whether I need to or not.
